Prospective Graduate Students

What the Social Psychology Program looks for in graduate students:  A strong undergraduate record, including good quantitative and writing skills, experience running experiments and/or programming skills (R, SPSS, SEM, etc), good critical thinking, an enthusiasm for learning, and a willingness to work collaboratively with other lab members.

Our ability to take new graduate students in a given year depends on three factors: 1) Social Program needs/decisions, 2) how well students fit within our program and with our current lab projects/interests, and 3) the number of students in our lab.

12-month funding packages are guaranteed for 5 years for all admitted students, which come in the form of Research Assistantships (RAs), Teaching Assistantships (TAs), Instructional Positions, University Fellowships, and external grants (e.g., from NSF, NIH, or other foundations).

The Social Program accepts applications each year. Admissions decisions are made as an area and, as such, applications are reviewed by all faculty in the Social Program. Applications are due December 1.  Admission decisions are made in January.
