Co-Parenting Study

Eligibility

  • You and your partner are eligible to participate if you:
  • Are willing to participate together and with your child
  • Are both at least 18 years old
  • Have a biological child between the ages of 3 and 5 years-old
  • Are romantically involved with the biological parent of your child
  • Are both fluent in English and comfortable having discussions together in English
  • Are able to complete the tasks in the study

The Study 

  • Answer a ~1 hour survey online before your lab session
    • Questions are about you, your partner, and your relationship with your child
    • All questionnaires are anonymous and confidential
  • Attend a ~2.5 hour lab visit at the University of Minnesota (Elliott Hall) 
    • Have several private but videorecorded interactions while playing and doing tasks with your child and/or partner
    • Answer survey questions
    • Complete computer tasks

Scheduling

Very flexible 

Available days, nights, and weekends

Child care for other children

Provided for free, given appropriate notice upon sign-up

Compensation

A check OR two checks for half the amount

$150 for participating in the study + $10-25 to reimburse you for parking or transportation expenses

The study takes place in Elliott Hall, the Department of Psychology building, on the East Bank of the Minneapolis campus

Please contact socialintlab@umn.edu with a list of 4 days/times your family is available in the next 2-4 weeks if you are interested in participating! Allow yourself at least 24 hours before the lab session to complete the pre-lab survey.
